Bug Screens for Front and 80% Solar Screens for the rest of the Home

This is a solar screens Austin Texas installation that I completed on Tuesday February 9th 2016. The customer ordered 10 charcoal fiber insect screens with white frame for the front of his home and 20 to 80% solar screens for the rest of his windows to include the left back and right sides.

The front of this home does not get son, it is the side of the home that faces the North. The customer wanted new screens for these windows, so instead of getting solar screens, he had us build him insect bug screens for the front of the home. These insect bug screens fit into the opening portion of the window, the portion of the window that is left open when you pull the window up.  I say this because so often we have found that people expect a bug screen to fit over the entire window. A bug screen is for the purpose of keeping flying bugs out of the home. Bug screens fit into just the portion of the window that is left open when you open your window.

This is a picture of the left side of the home. Used are chocolate brown 80% fabric for all of the windows received the solar screens, and we matched the customers white window frames with white framing for our solar screens.

All of these windows have tracks at the top and bottom to hold a spring loaded full size solar screen.

Here’s a picture showing the right side of the home. I remember doing this solar screen Austin TX installation and remember that tree there beneath that half circle and (2) 35×60 Windows being a problem. I remember having to tie back those branches so that I could put my ladder there in order to reach that half circle and those (2) 35×60 windows. And you’ll see that there’s a glass block window there in the upper right corner, that glass block window was difficult to access because of the sloped ground that we had to put our ladder on. We figured it out like we always do. And with our flat rate pricing, the customer didn’t get charged anymore based on the complexities of this installation. All installers that I know of that do solar screen installations will price their jobs based on factors like how complicated it is to install the solar screens, like in this situation they would have had a heck of a time and would have most likely charged a Premium. With me, I don’t operate that way, my pricing is flat rate based upon the size of the windows regardless of the location of the windows, weather they be first floor, second floor or hard to get to like these because of a sloped elevation.

This is the back of the home, this picture shows the back of the home where I installed 11 solar screens. Some of these windows were rather High, but they did not cost a customer anymore to put the solar screens on them then the first-floor windows are flat rate pricing system. What you don’t see is that I put flat turn clips at the center of each of these windows, the Center Height legs. This home receives a lot of wind. Because of the wind we do not want the screens ever coming off of the windows. And with these turn clips. It will ensure that the screens will not get removed from the windows.

The customer did not put solar screens on the Windows leading out into the back patio there. He didn’t put solar screens on the first floor patio or the second floor patio. I would have liked to have seen solar screens on those patio doors and windows, but he chose not to do it. Nevertheless he has solar screens on all other windows that receive Sun, therefore increasingly helping his home stay considerably cooler.
